In July 2021, it was announced that Lieutenant General Sir John Lorimer was appointed as the 31st Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man. The Lieutenant-Governor is appointed by His Majesty the King for a five-year term. Sir John was sworn-in at Castle Rushen in Castletown on the afternoon of Wednesday 29 September 2021.

His Excellency and Lady Lorimer promote the Isle of Man in a positive way, including the natural environment, culture, heritage, sporting achievements, etc. Many of the charities they have visited and become involved with are also UNESCO Biosphere Partners.
